Chocolate Frosting - Mimi's

Covers 1 recipe of 1-2-3-4 Cake

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup water

3 tbsp butter

3 squares unsweetened chocolate

1/2 lb. confectioner's sugar, more or less

1 tsp. vanilla

  1. Bring all ingredients except confectioner's sugar and vanilla to boiling point and cook for three minutes.  
  2. Remove pan from heat and cool slightly.  
  3. Add confectioner's sugar to desired consistency.  
  4. Add vanilla.

1 cup of chopped nuts may be added to this recipe.

Frosting may be thinned, if necessary, by adding a few tsp. strong coffee.
