Some recipes require Baker’s Bitter Sweet Chocolate. This used to come in 8oz. bars for about $2.00. Lately, we have found it in 4oz. bars for $2+ each. Pat has known for a long time that you can make your own Bitter Sweet Chocolate from Hersey’s Cocoa. Here is how.
For each ounce of Bitter Sweet Baking Chocolate:
1 level tbsp. Hershey’s Cocoa
2 tsp. shortening or oil
3 ½ tsp sugar
For one ounce of Unsweetened Baking Chocolate:
3 level tbsp. Hershey’s Cocoa
1 tsp. shortening or oil
Mix together until smooth and incorporate in recipe.
